Before first use
DeBuyer Mineral B Carbon Steel pans are finished with beeswax to protect them from oxidation during their shipping and their storage. This beeswax also facilitates the seasoning, improving the pan’s non-stick properties.
Before first use clean pan with very hot water to soften the beeswax and wipe with a towel to remove excess beeswax. A thin layer of beeswax will remain and provide a base for seasoning.
To season the pan, pour enough unflavored oil into your iron pan to cover the bottom. Carefully heat oil over medium heat. Once the oil slightly steams, dispose of the oil and wipe the pan with a paper towel. Repeat the process several times.
Cleaning after use
To clean pan after use, deglaze warm pan with hot water and wipe with a sponge, rinse with warm water, wipe dry and oil lightly, store in dry place.
Never soak pan to clean, if food particles stick to pan use hot water and a scrubby sponge or chain mail scrubber to remove food particles. Never clean with detergents, the use of detergents will remove the natural non-stick coating. This pan is not dishwasher safe, the dishwasher will remove the seasoning and pan may rust.
