Maine Homestead began with a bag of cucumbers and a deep-rooted love of family and Maine. Krista Gagne’s grandfather brought her a shopping bag of excess cucumbers from his garden, which quickly became a batch of Bread & Butter pickles. By the end of the season, one batch of pickles quickly became jars and jars of pickles, jams, and jellies. 

The business started at farmers markets and fairs, and steadily grew across Maine and beyond. Since they launched in 2012, they have spread to over 850 stores across the U.S. and have even opened their own market in Lyman, ME.
