This classic French Opinel folding knife is exceptionally useful, beautiful and uniquely affordable. Designed in 1890 and available in four blade lengths to fit uniquely into hands or tasks, its simplicity and practicality make it a must-have perfect pocket knife.
We love using it in the kitchen, cutting flowers in the garden, or slicing hard salami or cheese on a hike. It travels well, fitting comfortably in your pocket, basket or backpack making it a fabulous picnic knife.
The French beech wood handle is strong, durable and is milled to a shape that feels satisfyingly great in the palm of the hand. The original design of the pocket knife has pretty much remained unchanged except for the addition of the Virobloc safety ring that was invented in 1955. By simply twisting the Virobloc safety ring we could lock the blade open when using the knife or lock the knife closed when not.
The blade is made from a specially modified stainless steel called inox. Inox stainless steel has enough carbon content to keep a sharp cutting edge and the addition of chrome makes the blade non-corrosive for easy care and durability. The classic blade shape and profile provide strength and efficient re-sharpening.
This is a favorite pocket knife of ours, and is a perfect companion on all our adventures.
