With a combination of technology and craftsmanship, we love what Staub enamelled cast iron brings to the cooktop and the table. Francis Staub began designing cookware in 1974 and created enamelled cast iron cookware that excels at enhancing meals. Still made in France, the black matte interior is infused with quartz for better browning and searing, and the self- basting lid  is perfect for slow cooked one pot meals. Thanks to the superior heat retention of cast iron, the Staub interior has a durable non-stick surface that efficiently sears and gently browns, a great start to any braising recipe. The spikes on the interior of the lid aid in basting; as condensation forms on the interior of the cover and drops down, our slow cooked meals yield intense flavor. Staub is an essential line of cookware for braising, roasting, and baking and is as artisanal as it is committed to attention to culinary detail. The ceramic finish on Staub is rich and looks lovely on the stove or on the table.

Staub’s Essential French Oven is just that - with high 4 ½” sloping sides, a 9 ½” diameter, and a 3.75 Qt. capacity, this pan is a definite “essential” in your cookware line-up. We love the depth and endless capacity of this pan to slow simmer a soulful pot of soup or a robust stew, or to stir up our favorite mushroom risotto. This piece has the depth of a saucepan and the sloping sides of a skillet, making it a true kitchen anchor.
